The Cobalt Institute is a global trade association representing the entire cobalt industry and value chain. The Cobalt Institute is composed of producers, users, recyclers, and traders of cobalt, altogether covering about 80% of the global cobalt market. Our objectives include: protecting and growing the market for cobalt and compounds; acting as the global centre of knowledge on cobalt; and enhancing the reputation of the cobalt industry as a responsible sector. We are a knowledge center for governments, agencies, industry, the media and the public on all matters concerning cobalt and cobalt containing substances.
“Formalising ASM in the DRC should include the development and monitoring of transparent frameworks and standards in line with basic human rights principles and environmental standards. This must be supported by investment in off-site programs, including efforts to prevent and remediate child labour.
